If an evaluation is court ordered does that mean I will have to do treatment?

No, our primary focus is to objectively determine whether or not substance use issues are present, and if so to what extent. We handle each case with total neutrality and never pass moral judgment on your situation. Your well-being is always our foremost concern.

If treatment is recommended, do I have to do it at Clarity?

No, we will provide you with information about local treatment provider options. You choose the right fit for your needs.

Do you send every detail of the assessment to my lawyer?

No, your attorney will be sent a summary of the assessment and treatment recommendations. An assessment summary letter does not include every little detail discussed in the assessment. Instead, it focuses on the most relevant information needed for decision-making or compliance with legal requirements. Sensitive or highly personal details are typically omitted unless directly pertinent to the recommendations or required by the referring authority. This approach ensures that the recipient receives the necessary information while respecting the client’s privacy and legal

What is included in the assessment summary letter?

Summary letters typically include:

  • Identifying Information: Name, assessment date, and reason for assessment
  • Referral Reason: A brief statement about why the assessment was requested (e.g. court order, legal requirement).
  • Assessment Methods Used: A summary of tools, interviews, and standardized measures administered (e.g., ASAM Dimensions, clinical interviews)
  • Summary of Findings: Main observations and relevant history; clinical impressions or diagnoses, if applicable; risk factors and protective factors.
  • Recommendations: Suggested level of care (e.g outpatient, intensive outpatient, ADIS, etc); referrals or next steps; and any required follow-up or monitoring.
  • Confidentiality Statement: A note explaining that only summary information is being shared, and that detailed records remain confidential unless specifically authorized by the client

What kind of evaluations does Clarity do?

– Psychatric evaluations for ADHD and other neurocognitive issues, bipolar, and psychosis

– Mental Health evaluations to explore mood disorders, traumatic responses, dissociation 

– Substance use evaluations to determine severity of problem and treatment placement 

– DV evaluations to determine need for treatment to address intimate partner violence 

Does Clarity take interns?

Yes! We have 2 interns at any given time and welcome any graduate students to send in a resume. We do NOT take any students that are enrolled in associates level training programs. 

Does Clarity provide remote counseling?

Yes! offering remote services helps clients with mobility issues, disabilities, or other barriers find the services they need. Most counselors at Clarity are happy to hold remote sessions to clients anywhere in Washington State. 

Is the recovery program at Clarity based on the 12 steps?

While 12 step programs can be pivotal for some people’s recovery journey, we do not believe in a one size fits all model and therefore do not utilize the 12 steps as a primary therapeutic approach. Our counselors are trained in many evidence based therapeutical models including ACT, MBCT, DBT, EMDR, IFS and others.
